Don't know yet. I start training on Sunday and then do my first radio show the following weekend. Thinking of an "on air name" and thinking of what kind of format I want my show to be about, but so far, it looks like it will be punk rock + industrial + interview and some other unheard of music. It will be broadcasted over the air (I don't know which station yet, will find out after training) and will probably be an hour at first and 1 or 2 shows per week (prerecorded at first, then live). I'll probably be bringing a guest on for almost every show and if you can't recieve it over the airwaves, it will be streaming online + archived as well. More details after Sunday :)
Congrats, Jack - I have only been here a short time, but have been informed by a couple of (ehem) ladies of your trials and tribulations here. I am impressed, and you have a very cool name, on top of everything else! Jack's rock!
Nice! The studio is in Anaheim, maybe I can drag them in for an interview ;P I was thinking of Huntington Beach's Coexist as well. Saw them when I had my parents take me to that punk rock concert I was talking about way back in June and they were an instant mmmmmmmmm yummy... type band

Does anyone know a Buster Bodell?
All and the Descendents.
When Milo went off to college, the band got a new singer and became All.
Ah! That's it! My introduction to punk was a friend called 'Buster Bodell' - He said he was friends with All; he'd gotten kicked out of his house at the time and was living with his brother in San Pedro. He used to record at a place called Radio tokyo; I forgot what his band was called.

BTW, that was my intro to punk also....my ex (just after a week of breaking up) picked me up to go somewhere and played in the car "Just My Ex." Coincidence...I think not, but I fell in love with their music anyway.

You saw it..in a DREAM?!? (*sigh* Poor Martha..being taken advantage of by those unruly punks..)
No, it was real life! I saw him climb over 15 or so theater seats at the Pomona Valley Auditorium, and get her autograph on his ticket stub, and then kiss her on the cheek! It was a very funny sight, for sure! I then went back to throwing up my first and last Gin drink on my then boyfriend's shoes...

I remember when they introduced the rap show on mtv..i forget the name, or the two guys who hosted..I never really watched it; it didn't bother me. I do miss Alternative Nation, though, and *wince* Headbangers ball occassionally.

Fenders, Santa Monica Civic, Cukoo's nest, The Galaxy, Fender's, Billy Barty's skate emporium, Devonshire Downs, Cathay de Grande, and other spots - I was a south OC girl, so we were used to traveling for our shows... I was a North OC girl, too - but I always was a south OC girl at heart!
I saw LOTNC at Bogartsin LB....Jake won tickets and we got lost and he wouldn't let me pull over and ask for directions....I had to eventually use the patented YOU WILL NOT GET LAID move to find out where the fuck we needed to go......

That's funny you mentioned Adam Curry; it seems like he's always had something to do with the internet. Before the www, when you used gopher and checked newsgroups, Adam Curry had a 'site' set up for music news/gossip; it occassionally mentioned mtv.

Yes, and you know, Adam Curry made a bit of money because he bought the mtv.com site, and they had to buy it back from him once they realized they needed it.
(Always loved him for that!)

Dr. Dre (not the rapper/producer of the same name) and Ed Lover. I speak code too, bitches!
a KROQ spy! wrote:That's them! I'd forgotten their names. I barely remember them doing skits and showing videos.
Mhm. I don't know if you remember, or even knew in the first place, but at the height of their popularity they even made their own movie. It was a buddy cop comedy called Who's The Man? and starred among others, MTV alums Denis Leary, Colin Quinn and Bill Bellamy.
