Why I love KROQ
Oh, what a glorious thing mornings are now that I stream KROQ online at work. Kevin Weatherly, the station's director, is such a brilliant man with ingeniuos marketing skills. I fully support his decisions on anything he does, even on playing Fallout Boy and Panic! at the Disco in heavy rotation. I'm so glad KROQ is always breaking new, indie artists before ANYONE else, such as Matisyahu or Wolfmother. KROQ...always on the cutting edge of new music. I also don't mind at all, that they seem to play System of a Down before and after (as well as during) each and every commercial break. It's Mr. Weatherly's decision, and who are we, the listeners, to question his authority? We are merely here to obey and serve the almighty Weatherly as his loyal, and feeble-minded servants.
As for the morning show, Kevin and Bean are the two greatest radio personalities in the history of the records of radio transistor devices. They would never, ever, exploit or degrade people for their own benefit or ratings. I can ASSURE you of that. And there certainly isn't blatant evidence right in front of my face to contradict otherwise. They are the two funniest, nicest, kindest (and sexiest ) men since the creation of man. And as opposed to some OTHER morning DJs (I won't name names...but take for example Joe Escalante) their show isn't so boring that they lose listeners to AM talk radio. If you think Dicky had trouble attracting fans, just wait til Escalante's ratings come in. Frankly, I'd rather listen to Dicky Barrett reading from a phone book. But back to what really matters: KROQ. Kevin and Bean's Monday show always features a FULL Top 10 Weekend Box Office list, and not just the Top 5 movies as other stations do. Apparently that's the only criteria for having a good morning show these days. Well, since they feature it, that makes them great!
As for guests, who could ever top the amazing guests KROQ continues to bring in morning after morning? Why, just yesterday morning, Angels & Airwaves were on the Kevin and Bean show. If you don't already know, their lead singer is Tom Delonge, formerly of Blink 182. We all know he carries a substantial amount of punk rock cred, being that Blink 182 was one of the very first punk bands. At least that's what I believe, since KROQ doesn't play any real punk and all music is created and broadcast on KROQ. Regardless, I refuse to recognize any music not played on KROQ. You know my motto: if they don't play it on KROQ, it doesn't exist. And even though this completely limits me on my knowledge of music, I won't let that stop me from arrogantly and ignorantly labeling myself as the know all-it-all of music history.
Wow, Kevin and Bean must have a "punk rock" theme going today. Not only did they have on punk rock idol, Tom Delonge, but in between hearing the same System of a Down songs again and again, they even managed to play AFI on today's show. AFI! Try and tell me that they're not punk. I dare you!

Ya know I have to admit I never heard of "SUBLIME" till kroq played em.
but when they did I flipped...I wonder how many times they(kroq) were aproached by skunk or their affiliates to play that stuff?...and they shot
em down!...I wonder what could have been IF kroq was the cutting
edge station....we all know they are!

well done!!!!!!assholitis wrote:Oh, what a glorious thing mornings are now that I stream KROQ online at work.
I listened for a couple of weeks after dicky got fired
then I switched to Air America (AM 1150) and I like it much better than K&B.... Stephanie Miller, their morning person, is really good.
I still tune in to K&B during Stephanie's commercial breaks..... I like Ralph's Hollywood reports, but the rest of the show is just drivel....
I always wondered if someone at KROQ personally killed Brad Nowell, cuz they play the shit out of Sublime like they owe his family some money or something.......

They're ok....I mean....I love Sublime...even all these years later....Bradley just had such a sweet (or would that be SUH-WEET???) voice....
I just think that Sublime did it better and I honestly wish that Bradley were here to see his son grow up and the success that the band has enjoyed....
