George Best was Cool

Noel Gallagher may be a staunch Man City supporter but he’s paid tribute to Man United legend George Best by saying he was “cool” enough to be in his band.

Gallagher, who is currently on tour in Australia with Oasis, said of Best: “Georgie transcended football. He was called the fifth Beatle and he looked cool as fuck.”

Gallagher became friends with Best after meeting him at a charity event, he went on to say: “He owned a night club and a clothes shop, drove a Ferrari and he shagged Miss World.”

“The only thing he didn’t do in his life that was cool was play music, and he probably would have been good at that too.”

yip - he is a legend in his own time -

He was founder/investor Bestys (that English pub) in Hermosa Beach (maybe Manhatten Beach) There is a bunch of Best memrobelia on the walls there.

I just ordered this 4 x 10" vinyl set from Scorpitoones. TWP has George Best on the cover.

TWP are Feb 25th 06 at Troub if anyone is interested.
