myspace!...I get burned out here too...I've always tried to create
dialog to keep it going but with less people showing up all the time
it gets hard....I wish the assholes at indy hadn't shut down the blog!

ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) -- John strengthened Tuesday into the season's sixth hurricane in the eastern Pacific as it churned off the Mexican coast on a track that could hit the Baja California peninsula by week's end.

Hurricane John had sustained winds of 80 mph (130 kph), making it a Category 1 hurricane, but was expected to strengthen in two or three days to Category 3, with minimum winds of 111 mph (180 kph), the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

John already was bringing strong winds and rain to a swath of Pacific coastline stretching from Puerto Escondido north to the resort city of Acapulco, but no major flooding or other problems related to the storm have been reported.

The hurricane was about 150 miles (240 kilometers) southeast of Acapulco and was moving west-northwest at 9 mph (15 kph).

A tropical storm warning was in effect for Acapulco, and a tropical storm watch along a 330-mile (530-kilometer) stretch of Mexico's Pacific coast from Acapulco north to the port of Manzanillo.
