Ah, then. Why not just let a convicted murderer/born-again Christian become Pope? I mean, if it's really about redemption, something like murder shouldn't make a difference. While that's a nice theory on a small-scale, as individual Catholics, it doesn't make much sense that the holiest man in all of Catholicism was formerly alligned with a party responsible for one of the worst forms of genocide in history, does it? Sure, I can understand that a big part of Catcholicism is about forgiving, but how about we at least choose a Pope who hasn't comitted any murders or genocide? Is that really too much to ask?
