I finally got around to watch "Birth of a Nation" where the KKK are the hero's. Sorry Shloe, I just didnt get it. Made in 1915, maybe it is a cinematic & historic classic but I could not get past the first 15 minutes.
BORING! PANTS!!! (or is that Mustard)
Not that I am a raciest, but I thought that the idea was different and not PC to todays standard made me want to watch it.
Maybe there is another classic that I would enjoy?

Yeah film scholars point to it cause it was one of the
first feature length "movies" er something...I didn't
say it was any good....
"Captains' Curageous"....Spencer Tracy...got the academy
award in the 30's....good stuff...one of me favs

PANTS is BAD! I agreecompletely. It may be OK as a history lesson but not great movie making & only mistakes to learn by. The only silent films I truly like are the comedies of Chaplin, Keaton & Lloyd & the horror/fantasy films of Lon Chaney Sr. & German sci-fi/horror classics Metropolis(1927), Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari (1920), & Nosferatu (1922). And you can't go wrong with Casablanca (1943) & To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), not as old a film but filmed in B&W in an older style. I just saw it again recently & it is the antithesis of Birth of A Nation.

Speaking of movies, shloe's little picture reminds me of a line from Body Heat - the little girl couldn't identify the face of the naked man who was with her aunt. She only remembered his "member" because she had never seen an angry one before!
