That's nearly $60,000 U.S.!!!!! Now that's Scotch!
pity that no one will probably ever taste it...kinda
like how The classic Les Pauls are being bought by
collectors who cant even play the guitar....I say that
bottle needs to be in the hands of an impulsive
drunk in a circle of invited guests(with at least one
person having a developed taste fer scotch.......
so he can report the experience...)...my bottle
of Kesslers tremble at the thought.....Great read
for a Sunday afternoon Chris!!!

'e winked knowingly....

Ah but it won't be drinkable, will it. 157 years old is a bit past its sell by date,is it not? To whisky connersewers which is what I am, the whisky's age is calculated from the time it was in the cask AND not from when it was bottled. So if it was in the cask for say 10 years - even though the bottle is (true) 157 years old, the whisky is only ever going to be 10.

I'm not really a whisky connerwhatsit, 20 year old malts are my limit. There are some places here in Glasgow say where it will cost you a couple of hundred quid just to have a dram. One glass. I mean you regularly get pubs in Scotland (The Canny man Edinburgh) that boast of having large collections of malts...so there's a lot out there. The Isle of Islay itself has 13 distilleries, for such a small place that's a lot of stills.

Well down the road from me at Bladnoch, just 1 mile in fact Raymond will happily sell you a cask for...
A refill barrel of Bladnoch containing approximately 180/190 bulk litres filled at 63.5 % will cost you just £995.00

This price includes storage at Bladnoch for 8 years by which time you will have quite a few bottles of modestly priced whisky, rather a lot of Duty and VAT to be paid before it can be released from the Duty Free warehouse and more new friends than you ever dreamed of.

Comment

1. A cask is best purchased by a family or group rather than by an individual.

2. If the only reason you are purchasing a cask is for Investment purposes; Don't.

3. Bladnoch with very low levels of production and mimimal cask sales is always going to score highly on scarcity value in a market place.

Whisky is heavily taxed here, VAT (Value Added Tax). No wonder that up in the hills and far away they still distill white lightning, or moonshine, or poteen.

Slainte mun cuairt!

Cheers all around.

Yes yes(in presumptuous Jonsey speak)I've heard
that glass is impervious to gasious exchange....
Blandoch?...have yet to taste....I find that when a soul
seeks inebriation low cost is the way to go

..though I've had some aged Scotch before...but I
find your tongue(English?) a bit difficult so I can't say which...

I've tasted some good conaq though...but The french
are even worse for Americans to comprehend...

aint I L'enfant terrible?

oui?

Cheerio then!

Nothing to do with it. Age is down to how long the whisky has been in the cask, not when it was bottled.

That's Bladnoch - no I didn't imagine that you would have heard of it. As I said there are hundreds of whiskies out there.

Doesn't matter what you drink does it? At the end of the day when you're pissed it all tastes the same. So yeah a bottle of white lightning poteen though it burns the tongue and tastes vile, it will get you there.

However I know a man who drank wood alcohol (methanol) and he's never been the same since, so don't!!!
