Foxboro Hot Tubs

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Recently some of you (coughShloecough) have expressed concern about the lack of participation by members here. Well, I decided to do something that hasn't been done in months, maybe even years. I'm going to talk about music that I heard on the radio...on Indie 103.1 no less!
Fear not my fellow comrades, for I will try to make this as quick and painless as possible. Last Thursday I was listening to Indie on my ride home from work and heard a really good song that sounded like the Arctic Monkeys. But towards the end, I remarked how the vocals sounded strikingly like Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day. After doing some research I came across the Foxboro Hot Tubs. AKA Green Day. This is not the first time the trio has released music under a pseudonym. Some of you may remember The Network, who released an album just prior to American Idiot. The Network consisted of members who wore bandages over their faces or Mexican wrestling masks to conceal their identity. Although the music sounded like New Wave electro, people soon caught on and figured out that it was actually Green Day.
Anyways, this new band, Foxboro Hot Tubs sounds more like Brit pop punk. Think Arctic Monkeys or the Fratellis, or even the Strokes. Billie Joe's vocals are unmistakable though. The song I heard on Thursday, and the one I'm currently enjoying, is Mother Mary. You can check out three of the songs from their upcoming LP on their MySpace profile.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Shloegram, already in progress.
