I guess he played the only three songs I know by Tom Petty. And great songs too - runing down the drain.

"She’s a good girl, loves her mamma, loves je -sus, and america too.
She’s a good girl, crazy ‘bout elvis, loves horses, and her boyfriend too."

He says "loves Jesus" in the first line and then "loves horses" in the second line. That's just how the song goes. I checked the video on youtube. Tom Petty doesn't really stirke me as the kind of guy that would alter a line like that to please people and FOX doesn't seem like the type of people who would actually alter out the word "Jesus." If anything, they'd probably censor a word by replacing it with "Jesus."

I don't hate TP as much as Rotter, but I don't necessarily love him as much as Shloe does, so I'm sure you'll both be pissed when I say that...I actually enjoyed his half time performance. I like a handful of songs from him and he just so happened to play most of the ones I like. I don't think Tom Petty can legally play a show without playing Free Falling, especially as big a venue as the Super Bowl. I was surprised to hear Won't Back Down, which happens to be a lesser hit and my favorite TP song. I actually heard months ago that the halftime show would be the Eagles which would have blown tremendously.

I honestly think this was the best Super Bowl I've ever seen, or at least as far back as I can remember. The underdogs won. Good triumphed over evil. As Billy Corgan would put it, the impossible was possible tonight...er yesterday. Great half time show and the only weak point was those lame ass commercials. Did people really pay millions for those things? Not creative, not funny, not good. Only one or two that made me laugh or got my attention.

I kinda wanted to see the pats end with a perfect
season, but the upset was probably better bowl.

I was gonna post a pic of "Lucky" from the
Fox show "King of the Hill"(cause you know
that's Tom Petty doing the voice?)so he could
put in his 2 cents but I cant find a pic anywhere

I did know that. I actually thought about that character as I was reading your post yesterday. He sort of looks like a scruffier, dirtbag version of Tom Petty.

Did you ever see when Petty, Elvis Costello, Lenny Kravitz, Brian Setzer, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards guest starred on the Simpsons?

I remember that episode with all the old rockers - isnt that then Homer met them at an airport or something? Homer was being a rock star?

No, Homer was bored with his life so Marge sent him to Rock & Roll summer camp. Most of the men from Springfield were there like Otto, Apu & Chief Wiggum. Tom Petty was trying to teach them how to write meaniful lyrics & Homer kept yelling "Boring". Homer didn't want camp to end so the guys invited him to a benefit they were doing. When Homer found out he was supposed to be a Honorary Roadie, he tried to still the show & the rockers chased him around the stage in a fire breathing devil head. They crashed & Petty lost a toe.
