VHS or Beta Reissue Debut, Tour with Doves, Bravery

Matt Amis reports:
Right around the time that VHS tapes started really becoming obsolete, Louisville dance-rockers VHS or Beta released Le Funk, a kitschy, catchy and funky live-band love letter to French house music. (We're not going to say they're basically a Daft Punk tribute band, but we're also not NOT going to say they're a Daft Punk tribute band.) Self-released in 2002 via the band's own label, On!, Le Funk exhibited surprising foresight into the new wave and dance-punk revival that followed shortly thereafter. The band never really got to cash in on their debut, however, as Le Funk went Le Out of Print just as the Killers and their ilk began heating up dancefloors.

Ah, but there is a disco ball of hope on the horizon. Astralwerks, the new home of VHS or Beta, has remastered and re-released the album into the wild as of September 20. The "deluxe" disc features remixes of "Solid Gold" by Freaky Chakra, Bob Mould, and Iz. (Yes, Bob Mould is a club DJ now, didn't you know that?) The remixes were originally released as a 12" on the STIFLE label.

Le Tracklist:

01 Heaven
02 Disco Paradise
03 Solid Gold
04 On & On
05 Flash (live)
06 Teenage Dancefloor (live)
07 Solid Gold (Bob Mould Loud Bomb Mix)
08 Solid Gold (Freaky Chakra Evolution Mix)
09 Solid Gold (Joshua's IZ Solid Gold Mix)

VHS or Beta just recently capped a staggering tour in support of Night On Fire, their 2004 Astralwerks debut; the venture saw them performing alongside the Scissor Sisters, Electric Six and Duran Duran, to name a few. They'll head back on the road this fall, hitting North American venues with Doves and the Bravery, and having one-night-stands with the Faint and fellow Kentuckians My Morning Jacket in their shared hometown.

The Bravery suck! They used to be a ska-band and when that didn't work they tried to copy Interpol & The Strokes

Hahahah, the Bravery has some cool songs.... I tried not to like them, but I do. I love Ska, so nothing wrong with that...... and bands change all the time, it's not that big of a deal. I would have to hear their old stuff and see their old photos to decide what I think.
