Not really my cup of tea, but.....
Buzzcocks Prep New Album
James Gregory reports:
Unlike, say, the Sex Pistols, who are content to rehash watered-down versions of their onetime classics (don't give me that "Sid Vicious is dead" excuse), the old skool punks in the Buzzcocks have been offering fans a steady dose of buzzsaw renaissance since their unexpected mid-‘90s reunion, turning out a set of albums that have only helped polish their legacy as one of the UK's finest exports.
Following up their self-titled 2003 record (released through indie-haven Merge), the Manchester-bred unit recently announced a new studio LP being prepped for release. According to the band's official website, Flat-Pack Philosophy wrapped production in June, and should hit stores next year. Merge is currently in talks with the Buzzcocks’ management, but they have yet to commit to releasing the album.
No song titles have been made available yet, but the record will feature 14 new Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle compositions, with producer Tony Barber behind the console. You can get a preview of the disc at the Buzzcocks' fansite, Secretpublic.com, which is streaming exclusive video from the band's studio sessions. A healthy supporting tour is also expected for the disc. But if you absolutely gotta get your Buzz on right this minute, and you live in Chicago, Pitchfork heartily recommends heading over to Hot Doug’s Sausage Superstore and Encased Meat Emporium and ordering one of their three hot dogs named after Buzzcocks members. Mmmmmm…

They kicked ASS at the Inland Invasion 2002. Kicked ASS. My all time fav of all of the bands on the bill. I never expected them to be as good as they were live. Buzzsaw is a great word to use with them. They tore through their entire set, NON STOP. No pausing, no chatting, just playing. It was fanfreakingtastic!
