Wow. The difference between Belle and Bela Lugosi are about as far apart as you can get...

Holdin Holden
William Holden? I thought it would be after Holden Caulfield.
(Course, people in California don't read, so how would they know that?)

The more literate souls understand that the dog is in fact named after the character in The Catcher in the Rye....but others, not so much.....
I made a deal with Himself a long time ago that goes like this: You read one work of literature, and I will get you ANY trash novel of your choice...Catcher in the Rye was one of those deals....His Honors English teacher told him...you aren't SUPPOSED to read that until 11th grade....pishhhaaaaww on THAT.....Now it's one of the Kid's favorite books and why he named the dog what he did....

That's funny. Yeah, I didn't know about the assasination connection until after I was done with the book (and I've always been a huge Lennon fan)... but it didn't click for me... i didn't understand where it was coming from. All i know is i have never enjoyed reading a book as much as I did with The Catcher In The Rye... I couldn't put it down.... I woke up and hit play on my Strokes CD and read every chance I could get.... to this day Is This It is my soundtrack for that book... i should read it again this spring, it's a spring book!

Yeah, 'tis my favorite book as well. I remember reading it in high school and like half of my class didn't even bother with it. It's like, are you people idiots?! This isn't like the Odyssey or Romeo and Juliet - the book's written in plain English and pretty easy to understand if you just read it. So many of them missed out on the opportunity to read an important and thought-provoking book that deals with the angst and frustrations of people their age. Oh well. I gots mine and it was good!
