Saturday's Sunset Junction photos!
So... I wanted to share with you guys some pictures I took at Saturday's Sunset Junction.
The Walkmen were amazing.
They played The Rat, of course, and one of my favorites Little House of Savages.
I love drummer Matt Barric. He always has a huge smile on his face as he bounces up and down on his seat.
Notice the switch up between keybordist and bass player... apparently they wanted to try out each other's instruments
John Cale, his stuff sounded really experimantal... it was good.... interesting, but good... he went through like 4 different instruments. His drummer kicked ass.
Here's The Walkmen checking out John Cale.
.....and then.... Rilo Kiley (passing out paper flowers)!! Jenny Lewis' voice was flawless. She sat on her keboard and started out with I Never. Other songs included It's a Hit and Pull Me in Tighter.
Does He Love You
Jenny Lewis takes a seat and sips on her beer to enjoy Ripchord
Oh, they brought some "friends" on stage with them to dance along... soooo cute!
...and they finished their set with Portions for Foxes... Jenny Lewis flicked her yellow guitar pick off the stage and I picked it up before anyone else had noticed it.
On my way out I saw the Aurelito & Shakespeare "ice cream truck"... those guys are pretty cool.

Yes, and what you're not seeing in those pics (nice pics, Annie) is the unbearable heat during the Walkmen, and the MASSES OF PEOPLE thronged together with no room for air. (In both sets, though I honestly think there were more for Rilo Kiley.) Claustrophobes beware!

Loving ALL of Indie's shows, especially the guys they've been having in the morning!
Thanx. Yeah, the crowd got pretty tight in time for Rilo Kiley, but I was front row up against the rail, so I had plenty of room for air. That's why the picture's came out so cool, so close... the only ones infront of me were the press guys who flocked when RK came out. (It was worth saving my spot for 5 hours)
I have pictures of Sunday's show which are not as good as these because it was a crazy crowd... I'll try posting them tomorrow.

good gracious!
Baby, you're a braver soul than I. There's no way I could've stood in that heat for FIVE HOURS. It was rough enough hanging in the Indie tent, where we at least had ice and good company. AND SHADE!!!!
(And I took breaks to keep grabbing some of that DELICIOUS Orange Mist stuff.) Orange Juice and ice and smoothie mix. Who knew it could be so fantastic on a hot day?
